For the Signature Ride for 100th Anniversary
These rides are in an area of the spectacular Rocky Mountains south of Banff known as Kananaskis Country.
Travel to the Ride Start Location
NOTE that these rides are not in the Banff/Canmore area. You will need a car to reach this location.
The ride start point is at the Boundary Ranch. They are located 26 kilometers (16 miles) south on Highway 40 from the TransCanada junction. A link to this location on Google Maps can be found here.
Directions from the Calgary
Head west from Calgary on Highway 1 (the TransCanada Highway). Take Exit 118 for Highway 40. Drive south on Highway 40 for approximately 26 kilometres. The ranch is located on the left side of Highway 40, approximately 3 kilometres past the Kananaskis Village sign.
Accommodation Options
Please arrive the day before the trip begins. Here is a list of places to stay for the night before the trip. Please arrive at the Ranch at 9:00 a.m. the morning the trip begins.
There are no accommodations at Boundary Ranch.
For the Night Before or After the Trip:
- Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge – in Kananaskis Village.
- Stoney Nakoda Resort & Casino – Located at exit 118 (junction of highway 40 and the TransCanada highway).
- HI Kananaskis Wilderness Hostel – in Kananaskis Village.
- William Watson Lodge – south of Kananaskis Village in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park.
NOTE: If you are staying in Kananaskis or plan to visit other locations in the area, there is a new vehicle pass requirement starting on June 1 (an annual pass is $90). However, if you drive directly to the ranch from outside the Kananaskis region, a pass is not required to park at the ranch.
You may also stay in Canmore (or Banff, or even Calgary) but remember to leave enough time to arrive at the ranch before your ride.
